French For Cartridge is a London-based band fronted by a male/female duo. Formed as an attempt to create atonal pop music whilst at Goldsmiths in New Cross, the band released their first album Cases to rave reviews in 2006. The album made it to album of the month in the renowned Organ fanzine and was picked up by Radio 1, BBC Newcastle, Resonance FM and Pulserated among others. Their track Fooling Around was chosen by Rob Da Bank for the Radio 1 Best of Unsigned Podcast and featured in the top half of the Dandelion Radio Peel Festive Fifty.

French For Cartridge have appeared at various UK and European festivals and played venues such as Luminaire, Barfly, The Macbeth, Spitz, 93 Feet East and Bush Hall. The band are currently finishing their follow-up album for which they have worked with S. Husky Hoskulds (Tom Waits, Fantomas, My Brightest Diamond) and which is set for release in January 2010. The first double A-sided single Oooh!/Picture Negative, is out November 30th on Dinner With Daisy Records and is available on 7inch vinyl and download.

Oh, and the name? The band takes its name from its side project (une cartouche - which is French for cartridge) which in turn took its name from what the band used to be called.
