The Glasgow Art Events webcalendar was created & maintained by Harald Turek with the altruistic idea to provide [Glasgow based] artists and artlovers with the chance to add their own show/exhibition/performance at NO COST to a calendar that is easy to access by everyone.
It gave those interested in the Contemporary Artscene in Glasgow a simple overview of what is happening and where, without having to check numerous websites and it also allowed small exhibitions/venues to distribute their opening dates for free, who would not get into the List or any of the newspapers. At some point even venues in Stirling, Edinburgh & Dundee had put in their opening dates!
The Glasgow Art Events webcalendar also had a Galleries & Venues link, which gave the venue addresses + links to their sites + links to Google maps for directions.This webcalendar was setup before Google calendars and even Facebook or Twitter existed, but now with the technological developments it has become obsolete. Google [and similar web-based] calendars have made sharing information easy. Facebook and Twitter are also used to the same effect.
So, thank you all who helped me creating this, helping me with database stuff and all those who put in all the events in all those years!
