Bio

I'm a freelance composer, writing and collaborating with musicians and visual artists in London and abroad. I have recently written music for Henri Vaxby, Rhodri Davies, Ebba Erikzon and BJ Cole. Also, as part of my PhD in Composition at Goldsmiths College I produced and directed my new large-scale music theatre work (MiE) at the Space earlier this year for a set of six sold-out perfromances. MiE is written for 8 mimes/acrobats and 39 musicians and also features a glass harmonica, a fantastic instrument mastered beautifully by Alasdair Malloy from whom I learn about the lands of glass. As a pianist and cellist, I regularly perform within the contemporary music and free improvisation scene in London with appearances at Interlace, at the Music We'd Like To Hear concert series and the Melbourne Arts Festival in Derbyshire. I also record and perform regularly with Cartridge and our first record 'Cases' came out last year. I occassionally record and perform with Icons of Elegance especially when they do gigs in the UK, and I play now and again with Mika Sellens. I was a member of Woodchuck and I have done sessions for the Wedding Present and the Bays.

I have studied the piano with Michèle Ries and John Tilbury, both of whom continue to inspire my playing and teaching immensely. I also cherish my Saturday cello sessions with Ivan Andrews.

I have a big rack for all my different hats. I particularly like chords with major or minor seconds. In Luxembourg they call me Käfer.
